The Light Of Courage Triumphantly Concludes

It started out as a prank on a Legend of Zelda fanfic writer. The gentlemen responsible for this video approached the fanfic writer and asked him if they could use his “work” as the script for a production from DIC, the animation house that pumped out cartoons in the 80s like Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and of course The Legend of Zelda. Of course the writer agreed, and a couple of quick animations were thrown together as an “animation test” along with some DIC logos put in for authenticity.

When the video hit the internet, though, it was just good enough to be taken as an authentic DIC animation test— which is to say, it was very awful.

DIC didn’t exactly have a reputation for quality, you see. Their very 80s The Legend of Zelda was proof enough that this could be a legitimate DIC effort towards breaking into 3D animation. The creators of The Light of Courage parts one and two maintained a website that was half-parody, half-admission, and promised that a third installment was on its way.

And now, over a year later, it’s here. It’s actually pretty anti-climactic, since they put way too much effort into it. But for the sake of completeness— if you had been wondering if the promises of a third installment were just part of the joke— well, here it is, The Light of Courage, Part the Third.
